      Introduction to MBR Technology

Membrane bioreactor (MBR) is one of the most advanced wastewater treatment technologies in the 21st century. It is a new type of wastewater treatment and reuse process that combines traditional biotechnology with high-efficiency membrane separation technology. After MBR process, the turbidity and suspended solids of the produced water are close to zero, and the effluent can be used as reclaimed water to realize the recycling of wastewater.

      MBR technology advantages

1、The sludge concentration is high and the treated effluent quality is good. The concentration of activated sludge in MBR bioreactor is as high as 8000-15000mg / L, while the traditional activated sludge process is only about 3000-4000 mg / L; the suspended solids and turbidity of MBR effluent can be close to zero, and bacteria and viruses can be removed, and the effluent can be directly reused.

2、The process flow is short, the volume load of the device is large, and the land occupation is low. The volume of aerobic tank in membrane bioreactor is one third of that of aerobic tank in traditional treatment process, and the secondary sedimentation tank is omitted.

3、It is conducive to the interception of all kinds of microorganisms and has strong pollutant removal capacity.

4、Strong adaptability to load change and impact load resistance.

5、The production of excess sludge is low and the operation and management are convenient.

6、High degree of automation control, simple operation, online detection and remote control.

Comparison between MBR and traditional methods

      MBR scope of application

1、The traditional biological method can treat the biodegradable sewage.

2、The situation where enterprises expand production and sewage treatment sites cannot be expanded.

3、When the traditional treatment process can't meet the new emission standard, it needs process transformation.

      4、Water Reuse

Outstanding advantages of MBR - applicable to a variety of water quality

When the quality of treated effluent is unstable and cannot meet the current national discharge standard.

In the traditional method, the concentration of activated sludge in the secondary sedimentation tank seriously affects the treated water quality. Compared with the traditional process, MBR can not only completely intercept the suspended solids (SS), but also effectively extend the sludge retention time (SRT). Therefore, even high concentration organic wastewater can be treated by MBR membrane to obtain high-quality and stable effluent.

Outstanding advantages of MBR - small footprint

Enterprises have plans to expand production, but the existing wastewater treatment facilities cannot meet the demand after the expansion.  The sludge concentration in the MBR membrane tank can be increased to 2-3 times of the traditional method. Therefore, the use of MBR technology in the reconstruction and expansion can not only eliminate the need for a new tank, but also significantly increase the treatment capacity, about 2-3 times of the traditional method.

Outstanding advantages of MBR - water recycling

Reuse of reclaimed water. After the membrane treatment, the water quality is very high, without Escherichia coli, and can be reused directly. In addition, when the advanced treatment facilities such as RO membrane are used in the later stage of the process, the effluent from the membrane can enter the RO membrane directly.

Application example of MBR + ro combined process engineering:

1、As for industrial water, the water quality of MBR + RO system is better than that of tap water.

2、Through the recycling of water, the real realization of sewage resources, which not only brings long-term economic benefits to enterprises, but also improves the social responsibility of enterprises.
